MKM Hand Rollers - Wooden texture rollers for crisp designs in clay, metal clay, polymer clay, and perfect for ceramic clay. The Hand Rollers (HR) from MKM Pottery Tools are beautifully crafted with perfect designs.
Oh how we love these wooden rollers... They're like the warm and soft version of our Kor acrylic texture rollers. Very touchable and strokeable, smells nice, and yes, of course they do a great job texturing clay too! The Hand Roller is slightly larger than the Twig Roller.
Use the rollers in the wet clay stage, just roll under the palm of your hand, no handle needed. For ceramicists you can roll up a mug or vase, or texture your slab before shaping. They're compact and lightweight, making them easy to use and a great addition to your tool box.
For metal clay artists, if you need, you can smooth on a tiny amount of badger balm or olive oil on the roller before texturing the clay to avoid sticking. The rolling design means it is easy to roll loooong strips of clay for making long shapes, say for drop earrings, long pendants, or bangles.
Little tip for Polymer clay artists; spritz the surface of the clay with a little water before rolling to avoid any sticking.
The ends of the rollers are rounded to avoid a line along each side of the pattern. This allows patterns to blend if you want to make a really wide design.
The rollers are finished with tung oil to ensure durability over many years of use and are easily cleaned with water and a soft toothbrush.
The Hand Roller dimensions: 10cm (4") long, 1.5cm (0.6") diameter - slightly larger than the Twig Roller.

'Topographic' Hand Roller
I love these little hand rollers, as the impressions are crisp and it's easy to apply the texture on a flat slab or to a thrown or hand-built item.
