Large rubber block for jewellery making - support your work whilst brushing, filing, flattening and more.
Use the block to support and raise your jewellery and design pieces whilst shaping, sanding, brushing, polishing, setting stones, and so on. The rubber stops the clay from slipping and gives a good, firm but gentle surface to work on - it won't scratch your metal and absorbs shock!
The soft rubber won't blunt your drills, so a perfect work surface for drilling holes. It is weighty and non-slippery, making it the ideal steady surface to give you support whilst working.
Surprisingly handy tool, once you've tried you won't want to be without it! A must-have for any jewellers' workshop. This is part of Petra's basic kit, and has been a must on her workbench since 2004.

A must-have in my studio
I was introduced to this dull-looking thing by my Japanese Art Clay tutor. I couldn't figure out why I needed it - until she repeatedly gently reminded me to use it. After a weekend with her, I now feel something is missing if I don't have this on my studio table. I use it to support dry clay when refining, filing and sanding. I let just a small part of the clay hang over the edge, so the clay is always supported. Not holding the clay in my hands, the risk of breakage is minimised. I use the block for drilling into dry and fired clay. It supports my clay, has a very very slight give to it, so is a brilliant support surface. It is great when you're setting stones and closing prongs or bezels. I use it all the time! Tip - if using it as a support when brushing fired silver clay, put a baking paper (just the normal paper type) or similar between the silver and the block, so stop the bristles on your brass or steel brush from transferring rubber from the block to your silver.

Rubber block
Large ? Hmm, it really could do with being double the size, it works great but i find it a bit small and not so easy to rest your hands when you need to keep steady. Overall' Great job, would be better if larger.
