Product Description
These ring liner strips are just perfect for that little short cut whilst making a ring. If you do not want to, or are unable to make your own Art Clay ring band, you can use these instead. As they are all fine silver, they are fireable and do not shrink during firing, which an Art Clay made ring band would.
You can simply use paste to add your embellishments on, or completely cover the liner with your own design. If you are doing this, then we advise you use Art Clay rolled out to a minimum of 0.75mm thick for your first layer, if you go too thin on your first layer, you may get some cracking when the metal clay shrinks around the liner during firing. Its best to build multiple thin layers instead of one thick layer. Another option would be to fire your Art Clay embellishments first, and then attach them to your ring liner after firing, with something like Oil Paste.
Our new Paste Maker is ideal for making sure your silver clay bonds to this fine silver base.
The liner itself measures approximately 6cm long, 4mm width and 1.5mm thick.
To shape the strip, you simply bend round your ring mandrel (wooden is better so it doesn’t scratch the inside of the ring), with something like a nylon hammer.
