Prep your silver or base metals with Pam East's 170ml fantastic PreNamel, ideal for cleaning surfaces before enamelling!
A must-have for jewellers who work with enamel, enamel may not adhere to a surface that has not been properly cleaned, or it may chip off after firing. It's super important to make sure your metal surface is clean and free from oxides, dirt, dust, soaps and oils! This prenamel solution makes sure your metal is clean and ready for enamelling. This solution is also ideal for cleaning your metal after firing and helps remove those stubborn or hard to reach oxides!
PreNamel is non-toxic, however it is acidic, so we suggest wearing vinyl gloves when using it to protect your hands.
When not in use, keep PreNamel tightly capped and store in a cool, dry place.
To use:
- Put on safety gloves.
- Wet your metal in hot water.
- Put generous amount of PreNamel onto the metal surface.
- Wet a toothbrush in hot water and use it to scrub the piece, front and back. For smooth areas a green scrubber can also be used.
- Rinse all traces of PreNamel from the piece. The water should now sheet on the metal rather than pool. If it is still creating pools on the surface, re-clean the piece.

This is a must for anyone working with fine enamels. It cleans oil and grease off of your silver or other metals preparing your surface for the enamels. This allows your enamels to look amazing. Highly recommend.
