This is the the easiest way to give your silver pieces a beautiful polished shine. Just put your silver in the barrel with water and shot, and leave for anything between 45 mins - 6 hours and your work will come out lovely and shiny. To give you a complete kit (suitable for tumbling silver or metal) you need to add some stainless steel shot, and barrelling compound.
The vanes in the barrel helps to move your pieces around, so they polish faster. We used to use this size barrell in our metal clay classes, which were up to 10-12 students who each made between 1-3 items (usually earrings and pendants), and the size was perfect.
You can also use a 1.5lb barrel on this motor. We offer extra barrels in plastic or rubber; plastic is much easier to keep clean, whilst rubber is easier to open and close and are quieter - so you can mix 'n' match them as you like.
A little note on polishing
Tumblers are designed to polish or burnish your pieces. If you use it with stainless steel shot and water there is no abrasive - so tumbling will not remove scratches. If you have any scratches or surface marks you need to put in a little work and remove these before you tumble polish. Tumbling for a long time might round off and smooth out the scratches slightly, but it will not remove them.
A couple of notes on maintenance
Every week, unplug the tumbler and put a drop of oil on the steel shaft of the roller where they pass through the bearing blocks.
Every month, put a drop of oil on the motor shaft, where it protrudes through the side of the machine (use car grade oil for this).

No instructions
The tumbler arrived with no packaging except in the box all of my other supplies arrived in and with no instructions or manual, so i currently have no idea what to do with it. RESPONSE FROM METAL CLAY: Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear your tumbler instructions were missing. Normally our tumblers do come with instructions, tips, and safety information written personally by our team. We'll go ahead and get those sent out to you asap. The tumblers also come in individual boxes but if we can fit the rest of the order in that same box (as a lot of items are quite small) we do so to cut down on packaging material. We always try to make sure each order is packed as securely as possible. Apologies again for any inconvenience. Please let us know if there's anything else that we can do to help.

Fab little tumbler
Not having had a tumbler before I spent a lot of time searching around on the internet trying to find the best type to get for my needs. I work mainly with copper clay and make a lot of small items like beads so wanted something to save my arm aching from the masses of polishing. There were cheaper tumblers out there but I went with the one from Metal Clay as it is a compact design English built and Metal Clay have fabulous customer service. I'm really glad that I did as I'm so pleased with this product, it does a great job, I also bought the 1.5lb plastic barrel which works really well on it too.
