Product Description
Replacement relay for Paragon Kilns - used for the SC2, SC3, and BlueBird kilns
Potter & Brumfield 12V Relay
The relay is a switch which turns the kilns heating elements on and off. It is what you can hear clicking as the kiln is working. The relay has a limited life span and will eventually need replacing. We recommend you keep a spare relay at hand, it is a quick and easy process swapping it out.
TOP TIP - TAKE PHOTOS AS YOU OPEN YOUR KILN, AND BEFORE YOU UNPLUG/UNSCREW AND CABLES OR SCREWS.
This will help you put it all back together in the right position.
The relay is triggered by the kiln’s temperature controller, the thermocouple measures the temperature inside the kiln, tells the controller when it needs to activate the elements - the controller then sends a signal which energises an electromagnet inside the relay. This closes a switch inside the relay, sending power to the elements.
The manual that came with your SC2 kiln shows you how to replace the relay, we also recommend you view the video on the video tab for this product.
