Enamelled Accents and Stone Settings on Silver - Two day class
Monday & Tuesday 28th-29th October 2024
9:30am - 5:45pm
Have you always wanted to learn how to enamel? Or how to set stones neatly and texture metal clay with perfection? Do you want to create something colourful and fun? Then this is the perfect class for you.
We're so excited to welcome Joy Funnell back to our studio, it has been a while and the first time she will be teaching in our new bright (air-conditioned!) studio. Joy loves colour and she loves textures. Which is pretty obvious when you see her jewellery! Joy herself is as joyful, vibrant, and colourful as her jewellery, her classes are fun and inspiring. She has been teaching for a long time, all around the world, and she knows how to help her students get the best out of the materials. Don't miss this chance to learn from one of the greats!
BONUS! Get a FREE pack of 20gm Art Clay Silver Clay and a surprise goodie bag (worth £44.25 + approximately £20 = nearly £65!) if you join us for Joy's 1-day Blossoming Ring class as well (which runs following this class, on Wednesday 30th October). We'd love to have you here for all 3 days! You'll receive your free clay on the day of the class. |
WHAT WILL I MAKE?
In this workshop you'll make your own unique silver pendant. You choose the shape, the size, and the texture. You'll make your own bail, and of course you'll be decorating the back too. Joy will show you how to ensure your piece always looks amazing - whichever way it is facing up.
Once perfectly textured, Joy will show you how to create little stone settings for sparkly fireable stones. And then you'll have lots of fun creating wire outlines ready to be enamelled, using Joy's Enamelled Accents technique of freestanding cloisonné.
Whilst Joy's jewellery is a veritable feast of happy colours, you can of course choose to be more restrained if that is your style. Your enamel accents can be adjusted completely to your personal skill level and aesthetics - they can be abstract shapes, you can create a little character, or keep it really simple with a few circles or maybe just a single heart. Joy is the perfect instructor to help make your ideas a reality.
Once fired it's time to get the colours out. Whether you're making birds with rainbow wings or simple monochrome dots, you'll learn all about prepping your enamel, how to apply, how to fire, and how to give your piece a professional finish.
Here are some pieces Joy made for a very similar workshop we ran a few years ago. These pieces are designed a little different to what you'll be making in this class, but the enamel part is very much what you can achieve.
What is for sure is this will be a joyful, happy workshop. Whether you are new to enamelling or have enamelled before, learning how to add Enamelled Accents will open up a whole range of possibilities for you, and there'll be lots of tips including how to get a really great finish on your silver pieces and how to get lovely clear transparent enamels.
