Split mandrels help you power sand like a pro! Simply thread your favourite abrasive into this mandrel and sand, smooth, and polish with speed and precision!
These mandrels are ideal for sanding and polishing inside rings, or areas difficult to get into. Wrap your favourite cloth-backed abrasive, wet-and-dry, or polishing cloth, fix the mandrel into your Foredom, Dremel, JoolTool, flexshaft, or general rotary tool - and you're ready to polish, sand, refine, and smooth like a pro. You can also get this mandrel in a tapered version, excellent for reaching into tight spaces.
Also available in a tapered version - click here.
How to use:
- Cut your desired cloth-backed sandpaper or polishing cloth to a strip the width of the slot and about 3.5cm long.
- Slip one end into the slot in the parallel split mandrel and tightly wind the paper onto the mandrel with the grit side out. Think about which direction the mandrel will turn when in use - you don't want your paper to unravel as you're using it!
- Whilst not necessary, you can glue down the end of the roll. Hold in place with an elastic band or a small clamp while the glue dries. Glueing might be better if you want to do very precise sanding.
Sandpaper or split mandrels have a "split" above the reinforced base allowing the user to wind sandpaper, polishing cloth, or other abrasives around the gap. These mandrels come in straight and tapered styles and are generally used to sand in tight spots. The straight version is good for finishing smooth surfaces while the tapered offers access to undercuts.
Size: 2.3mm (3/32") shank diameter - 19mm (3/4”) slot length - 0.8mm (1/32”) slot width.
