Why is the label red rather than blue - is this a fake?!
No, the label is red to show it is a UK 230 voltage motor, rather than a US voltage.
Any Foredom hanging motor you buy in Europe SHOULD have a red label. If it is blue it is designed for 110V.
The Foredom® PowerGraver is a complete power tool used to perform a wide variety of tasks such as engraving, stone setting, bright cutting, bead raising, and other applications requiring the use of a graver or a hammering effect. Foredom power tools are manufactured to high standards of precision and with proper use and regular maintenance will give you years of trouble-free performance.
The Foredom PowerGraver Kit K.2293 consists of a permanent magnet DC motor, flexible shaft with neoprene sheath, dedicated handpiece with palm rest, variable speed dial control, and accessories
The PowerGraver is fitted with a keytip flexshaft, so you can use it with all other Foredom key-tip hand pieces. In the picture below you can see the key tip style end, and a sample of how it can be used with an optional H.30 handpiece (not included).
This is a 230 volt motor-speed control combination.
Specialised 9D Handpiece:
The PowerGraver H.9D handpiece works and feels like a hand engraving tool, with the added advantages of greater control and the ability to adjust the impact force. The palm rest provides the comfort and "feel" of a hand engraving tool, and the duplex (spring end) ensures you can hold and work with the handpiece comfortably.
Comes with three collets: 3/32″, 3mm and 1/8″. The three different collets are interchangeable to hold different sizes and shapes of popular gravers, beading, and stone setting tools.
Turn the knurled ring behind the palm rest to adjust the impact force of the hammer.
This kit comes with 4 gravers, a carbide stylus, and an anvil point.
The 9D hand piece has a special quick disconnect that fits ONLY the M.PGX motor sheath. Unlike other Foredom Handpieces, the H.9D handpiece has a tab on the end where it connects to the shaft and sheath. The tab slides over the flattened edge on the sheath. The H.9D will not fit other Foredom flexshafts. However, you can use any other keytip handpiece with the PowerGraver shaft - ideal for slow speed jobs.
PG Permanent Magnet Motor Description:
M.PGX Motor is designed for high torque/low speed applications with permanently lubricated ball bearings for quiet trouble-free performance. This smooth running, high torque motor is designed specifically for use with the 9D handpiece for power assisted engraving and stone setting. The M.PGX Motor can also be used with other Foredom handpieces for low speed, high torque operations such as polishing.
The smooth running, permanent magnet motor comes equipped with a standard length key-tip flexshaft covered in an extra flexible neoprene sheath.
6 foot long power cord. Please note, whilst the picture shows a US plug, the kits sold by Metal Clay Ltd come with a UK three pin plug.
EMG Dial Speed Control:
The solid state C.EMGX Dial Speed Control is used to vary and set the speed from Off and 500-2,800 RPM so it can be set at the ultimate speed for the job.
On/Off Foot Control:
The PowerGraver comes with a C.FCGX On/Off Foot Switch. This foot control allows you to turn the motor on and off simply using your foot, giving you even more control.
