Product Description
Medium sized sparkling fine silver flakes, use to decorate your metal clay jewellery!
Use this crystal-like silver frit to decorate your silver clay pieces, trap it and fuse it between glass, bond it in resin, or add to lamp work glass bead designs. Gives your work a lovely sparkly surface and adds texture.
How to use:
You can add the frit onto the piece in the clay stage, but then fire at the clays usual firing temperature. You don't want to take the frit up to near its melting temperature, as it's fine silver. We would use a little paste, or squished up clay, to help the frit grip and bond with the clay.
Think of it like when you are attaching two pieces of silver clay together, you wouldn't just put them on top of each other; you would add a little paste between them to help them bond - or you would wet the surfaces where the two pieces touch (so you have wet clay touching wet clay), and then press them together. And remember the frit is metal, not clay, so it needs even more help to bond!
If it is sprinkled onto a really soft wet clay, and then gently pressed into the surface, you will probably catch and secure a lot of the frit, but using a little thick paste will guarantee it.
Once dry, before firing, hold the piece upside down over a clean sheet of paper, and gently shake off any loose bits, which can be reused another time.
