Ceramic fibre brick for torch firing, a must-have for every jewellers' workbench!
Place your metal clay pieces on this thick heatproof firing block when firing with a torch. The soft ceramic fibre brick will protect your work surface from the heat. Being soft ceramic fibre you can impress, carve, or drill, holes or indents for supporting your pieces, holding wires, and more. This is also a great surface to keep next to your kiln, to set your hot kiln shelf or tongs on. This can also be used for traditional silversmithing and other firing uses!
TOP TIP: To make your own perfectly shaped silver balls to use for decoration and granulation work; use a ball burnisher to gently indent the brick (make lots of indentations right next to each other), snip fine silver wire into 0.5-1mm length, place one snippet in each indent, and heat with a torch until they melt!

Fibre fire brick
This is lightweight, especially useful if you need to transport a number of them for classes. The brick stays cool so no worries about heat penetrating through to the surface. There can be a white powdery residue on items it sits against so good to keep in a bag between use or when transporting. I still use the first one I bought years ago to give you an idea of its durability.

Got this and the beginners kit to fire my first pieces on. Works a treat. It is like magic how well it insulates the surrounding area. May buy more when i need to create a more enclosed area for melting silver.
