How to use:
If stamping into fired/ hard metal - working on a sturdy table, lay the metal to be stamped on a hard surface, such a steel bench block. Hold the stamp with the decorative end in place on the surface then use a 16oz or heavier hammer to strike the flat end with a smooth, even force.
If stamping into soft clay - ensure you have applied some non stick balm or coolslip to the decorative end of the stamp. Have your clay rolled out and moulded into your desired shape (you will not want to be reshaping your clay once you have made your impression, unless you are just using a cutter and will not need to handle the clay too much). Carefully hold the stamp with the decorative end in place above your clay - then gently push the stamp into your clay, you will not need to push very hard. Ensure you keep the stamp vertical at all times to avoid catching or dragging the clay.
TIP: Practice stamping on copper sheet before moving on to precious metal jewellery parts.
