Product Description
Perfect beginner's torch for silver clay firing. This torch really is easy to fill, burns long, and is self-igniting.
The torch has a base, so you can put it down if you need to take a short pause in the firing. Use with a firing block. Comes empty, as we're not allowed to send gas by post in the UK.
You simply fill it with a standard aerosol butane gas lighter refill (which you can buy from most supermarkets, tobacconists, hardware stores and news agent). PLEASE NOTE: Butane gas is NOT the same as lighter fluid - you must make sure you get gas, not fluid.
When you fill the torch with gas you should do it in small increments, keep pressing the gas canister's nozzle down onto the filling vent until the gas starts spitting - then you know it is full.
*Please note - You must direct the flame at a 45° angle at a distance of about 5 centimetres, if you do not fire at the correct angle you may cause damage to the torch* (See the learn more section at the top of the website for more instructions on torch firing)

Perfect for beginner, does the job
Had a few issues with this torch to start with but the excellent customer service team at Metal Clay sorted out the problem quickly and efficiently. Torch easy to fill and fires the clay really well, I'm delighted :)

handheld gas torch
Have to say, I should have gone for the more expensive torch, for some reason although its filled correctly, the gas ran out extremely quickly, I was halfway through burning a small Art silver project and it ran out of gas, literally within a minute or two, I had to refill and it did it again, and I quite disappointed I will continue to try to work with it, but at this moment in time I am not too impressed :( ** RESPONSE FROM METAL CLAY LTD ** Hi Maureen, We're sorry to hear you're having problems with the torch. It shouldn't run ot that fast - it sounds as if this could have happened because it wasn't filled fully. When you fill it with gas you should do it in small increments, keep pressing the gas canister's nozzle down onto the filling vent until the gas starts spitting - then you know it is full. Does the job and does it well
Using this torch was my first experience with silver clay and it all seemed to go pretty well. I did 'over cook' the first piece but that was my inexperience, not the fault of the torch. The second piece was a bit large for doing with a torch but it went perfectly so I'm very pleased all in all.

This little torch blasts out sufficient heat for most needs. Easy to use and cheap to refill.

Great , easy to use.
Great, used to turn the clay to silver- did easily. It was really easy to fill and the gas was really cheap and easy to get to fill it up.
